Earlier, the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was briefed that 519 kanals of state land have been identified in five major cities including Lahore for the construction of low-cost houses for the homeless low-income people. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Information & Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari and MPA Sania Ashiq attended the meeting. Chief Secretary, SMBR, Chairman P&D, Secretary Housing, Secretary Finance, Commissioner Lahore and other relevant officers were also present in the meeting.
The government of Punjab sent a cheque of Rs2.5 million to the family of a guy who was hit and killed by the protocol convoy of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz five days ago in Narowal on Wednesday.
According to the media report, following the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Deputy Commissioner Narowal Syed Hassan Raza and Member of Provincial Assembly Ahmed Iqbal reached the home of late Muhammad Abu Bakr at his village Jasr and expressed their condolences to the parents of the deceased and conveyed the condolence message of the Chief Minister.
On behalf of the Chief Minister, they gave a check of Rs2.5 million to FakharAyaz, father of Abubakar.
Member Provincial Assembly Ahmad Iqbal said that the government is equally involved in the grief of the victim’s family.
On April 18, 23-year-old Abubakar was killed in an alleged collision with the Chief Minister’s protocol vehicle on Shakargarh Road, Narowal.
Narowal Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Malik Muhammad Khalil said that according to the CCTV footage, Abubakar was seen falling to the ground after being hit by an unidentified motorcyclist, after which he collided with an official vehicle, resulting in his death.
Maryam Nawaz allegedly took notice of the incident and asked for a detailed report of the incident from the Deputy Commissioner (DC). Abubakar was employed at a filling pump and his father FakharAyaz is a laborer. The chief minister also directed the police to take legal action against the driver of the government vehicle.
