Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday approved Punjab Employment Scheme worth Rs30 billion. In this regard, MD PSIC gave a briefing to the CM about the salient features of the scheme and informed the participants that an online portal has also been created in collaboration with the PITB.
Giving details of this initiative, the chief minister stated this scheme aimed at developing small and medium enterprises and restoration of corona-affected businesses in the province. Under the scheme, soft loan up to Rs10 million will be provided to existing business or launch of a new venture and the transgender community, along with men and women, are eligible to apply. The rate of mark up for womenfolk is kept less, he added.
The CM directed to launch this scheme in the current month as businesses have been affected due to corona and the government is going to provide a major relief to the affectees.
He directed to ruminate about further reducing the mark-up rate along with the processing of applications in the minimum period. Special initiatives should be included in this scheme to boost the rural economy, the CM added. Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, ACS (Urbanization), Chairman P&D, secretaries of finance and industries departments attended the meeting while Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht and BOP President participated through video-link.
PRIVATE SECTOR UNIVERSITIES CHAIRMAN CALLS ON CM
Chairman All Pakistan Private Sector’s Universities Ch. Abdul Rehman called on Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at the assembly chamber here on Tuesday and discussed matters about the promotion of higher education in the province.
The CM appreciated the role played by the private sector adding that meeting of higher education reforms committee will be called soon and he will personally review the matters pertaining to this committee. Similarly, vacant posts will be filled in the higher education department according to need and pending cases will also be disposed of as soon as possible.
PA SPEAKER Calls on CM
Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi met CM Sardar Usman Buzdar at assembly chamber on Tuesday and discussed matters of mutual interest.
Talking on the occasion, Usman Buzdar said that the PML-Q is an ally and both will continue to serve the masses. The relationship with the allied party will be stronger every coming day.
The two-year performance is evident to the people, he added. The conspirators are opposing the development of the province and new drama in the garb of APC will be failed, the CM further added.
The CM chaired a meeting at Punjab assembly here on Tuesday about easing the process of setting up new cement factories in the province.
The CM directed to make easy the complicated and lengthy process of establishing cement factories as PTI government is creating ease of doing business. The easy process of establishing cement factories will boost investment and new job opportunities, he added. He directed to link the issuance of NOC for establishing a cement factory with the timeline as some departments unnecessarily delay the issuance of NOCs.
