Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar was the chief guest at the agreement signing ceremony between Xiang Lahore Water Metering Company and WASA to install 711,000 smart water meters in Lahore under a public-private partnership mode.

The CM said the company would install 93% domestic and 7% commercial smart meters along with their maintenance for 10 years. There would be no need to go from house to house to take readings, he noted. This would increase revenue along with saving precious water. Meanwhile, the local assembling plant of the smart water metering project would create employment opportunities and technology transfer; he mentioned and termed it one of its kinds in the country which would also be extended to other cities.

Provincial Minister for Housing Malik Asad Khokhar, SACM Hasaan Khawar, chief secretary, chairman P&D, secretary housing and officials of WASA and Chinese company were present.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has termed the announcement of holding a long march on March 23 as an attempt to malign national unity and regretted that the PDM was impassive to the importance of national interest.

He stated this while talking to provincial ministers Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hashim Jawan Bakht and Hamid Yar Hiraj who called on him at his office on Tuesday and discussed matters of mutual importance.

Sardar Usman Buzdar said that these individuals were putting the national interest at stake to protect their political stakes and regretted that the PDM has, again, shown political immaturity and irresponsibility. There is no room for negative politics, he stressed.

The chief minister said that the politics of the opposition was not based on any principle or ideology and its every tactic would be fully countered. The nation was united under PM Imran Khan and the government would complete its term, he concluded.
