Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has reaffirmed the province’s commitment to the well-being and development of children, emphasizing their vital role as the future foundation of a strong Pakistan. Speaking at a UNICEF Pakistan concert held at the Pakistan Arts Council to celebrate World Children’s Day, themed ‘Listen to the Future,’ the Chief Minister stressed that the collective priority should be ensuring the well-being and development of every child.

Joined by Minister of Education Sardar Shah, UNICEF Representative Abdullah Fadil, UN Resident Coordinator Mohammad Yahya, and other dignitaries, CM Murad Ali Shah expressed his gratitude for the commitment to advancing children’s rights. He acknowledged World Children’s Day as a crucial occasion for Pakistan, underscoring the need for continued efforts to secure a bright future for every child. “Happy World Children’s Day to every child in Sindh, Pakistan, and around the globe,” said Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, emphasizing that the celebration serves as a reaffirmation of Sindh’s dedication to child rights.

He highlighted the provincial government’s ongoing collaboration with UNICEF and other UN partners to ensure that all children receive the support they deserve. The CM also praised the diversity of children represented at the event, recognizing how they reflect the unity and strength of Pakistan. He thanked UNICEF and its partners for their tireless efforts, especially in alignment with Pakistan’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which have guided the country’s vision since 2016. Pakistan’s adoption of the SDGs has played a critical role in driving reforms and investments that prioritize the needs of the youth to secure a prosperous future for the country.

With nearly 20 million children in Sindh alone, Murad Shah acknowledged the significant responsibility the province bears. “Our children represent the future foundations of a strong nation, and their well-being, education, and overall development must be our collective priority,” he stated. The Chief Minister also welcomed UNICEF’s National Ambassador, Mrs. Saba Qamar, whose recent visit to Sindh has further highlighted the importance of advocating for child rights.

He called for urgent attention to issues such as high malnutrition rates and lack of access to clean water, urging a renewed commitment to ensuring all children grow up in safe and nurturing environments. Echoing UNICEF’s message for World Children’s Day 2024, “Listen to the Future,” Chief Minister Shah expressed optimism that a brighter future for children is within reach if their rights are protected and honored.

“Thank you for your commitment, and I hope you enjoy the celebrations here in the beautiful city of Karachi,” he concluded, reinforcing the message that collective action is key to a better future for the children of Sindh and beyond.
