Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah addressed the 12th Annual PACVTS Scientific Conference 2024, expressing concern over the rising rates of heart disease, which have become a leading cause of death both in Pakistan and globally. He commended the tireless efforts of medical professionals working to tackle this challenge.

The conference was organized by SICVD Sukkur at a local hotel, with notable participants including Executive Director NICVD Professor Tahir Saghir, Executive Director SICVD Professor Javed Akbar Sial, PACVTS President Dr. Hasnat Sharif, and PACVTS Convenor Dr. Ali Raza Mangi. Chief Minister Shah highlighted the importance of the platform in advancing progress against heart diseases and breast cancer.

He pointed out the presence of leading national and international heart specialists, underlining the importance of collaboration in tackling these health issues. He also acknowledged the Sindh government’s commitment to improving health facilities, particularly in heart disease treatment, and praised the government’s support for NICVD Karachi and SICVD, which has resulted in significant improvements in cardiovascular care.

CM shared that these two institutions had carried out over 4,500 open-heart surgeries and other major and minor procedures in the past year. He emphasized the need for a national program to address heart diseases and ensure a healthier future for upcoming generations.

The Chief Minister congratulated Dr. Ali Raza Mangi and his team for organizing the conference, which he described as an important platform for knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and innovation. He assured full support for the efforts to combat heart disease and expressed his hope that the conference would be a success, wishing the delegates a pleasant stay in Karachi.

“We can all work together to tackle these challenges and create a healthier future for our people,” concluded Murad Ali Shah.
