Manchester City are a step closer to retaining their EPL title.

Taking full advantage of Liverpool’s slip-up against Tottenham, City trounced Newcastle United at home to move three points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Goals from Raheem Sterling (2), Aymeric Laporte, Rodri, and Phil Foden helped them to a comfortable 5-0 win over the visitors.

The key to rattling City often lies in scoring early and Newcastle should have gone ahead on eight minutes when Allan Saint-Maximin whipped a cross into the box for Chris Wood, who only had Ederson to beat, but the New Zealand striker nodded the ball straight at the goalkeeper.

With their best chance gone, the home side began to settle into their usual rhythm, passing the ball around for fun.
