Port city residents experienced relief from the intense heatwave as rain showers swept across various parts of the city on Thursday afternoon. Rain showers and thunderstorms were observed in several areas including Malir, Gadap, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, North Karachi, Saddar, Super Highway, and surrounding localities. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier forecasted rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms for Thursday and Friday.

The Met Office further predicts rain showers with thunderstorms in Karachi, Badin, Hyderabad, Thatta, and Sujawal districts. Eastern districts of Sindh including Mithi, TharParkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, and MirpurKhas also received rainfall with thunderstorms. Weather experts attribute these weather changes to a low-pressure system situated south of India’s Gujarat, influencing the weather patterns over the region. They anticipate further thunderstorms and rainfall due to the impact of this system.
