Christopher Nkunku scored twice to help RB Leipzig beat Atlanta away from home and reach the final four of the Europa League.
Following a 1-1 draw at home, Leipzig reached the last four 3-1 on aggregate with Nkuku’s brace remaining answered by Atlanta.
Leipzig dominated in Bergamo in the 18th minute before Nkunku sealed the victory by winning and converting a late penalty to take his tally to 30 for the season in all competitions.
Atlanta, despite, their poor domestic form, would have fancied their chances after earning a draw in Germany.
But the Italians failed to create any meaningful chances.
Other than full-back Davide Zappacosta’s early effort, they did not really test keeper Peter Gulacsi, with the majority of the action taking place down the other end.
The strike that edged Leipzig ahead in the tie came from a swift counter, with Konrad Laimer racing down the left before cutting the ball back for Nkunku.
The Frenchman, on fire this season, was never going to miss from that range and opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
Leipzig and Nkunku then had moments to put the game away but failed to find the target.
The 24-year-old only found the side netting when through on goal after the interval, before Laimer was unable to convert after an error from goalkeeper Juan Musso.
Yussuf Poulsen threaded Christopher Nkunku through as Atlanta looked for an equalizer.
With no other option, Musso brought down the Leipzig player who dispatched the resulting spot-kick in the 87th minute for his second goal of the night.
That wrapped up a deserved win for Leipzig who now have seven away wins in a row and are 13 games unbeaten in all competitions.
The visitors, who reached the Champions League semifinals two seasons ago, booked a Europa League final four meeting with Rangers.
