China’s Foreign Minister visits Afghanistan

Kabul: In a major development, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Kabul on Thursday and held a meeting with his Afghan counterpart, a spokesperson for Afghanistan’s foreign ministry said.

The meeting came after China’s Foreign Minister attended the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Pakistan as a special guest on March 22.

The visit by Wang Yi is also the highest-level visit by a Chinese official to Afghanistan since the Taliban took power last year.
