China on Friday rejected latest sanctions and called for dialogue to resolving tensions between the United States and Iran.
Speaking at a press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that negotiations remain the only practical way to resolve the dispute between the US and Iran.
“Dialogue and negotiations are the only viable way out,” Lin said, reaffirming Beijing’s opposition to unilateral sanctions imposed by the US.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image on his Truth Social account showing himself holding a rifle alongside the caption, “No more Mr Nice Guy!”, amid stalled efforts to revive peace talks with Iran.
The US also announced fresh Iran-related sanctions, targeting a Hong Kong-based entity and an individual linked to Iran’s Bank Melli, according to a notice published on the US Treasury Department’s website.
The latest measures came after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned earlier in the week that the US could take further economic action against Iran.
