Islamabad – Iron friend China has congratulated Pakistan for being elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC) for 2025-2026 term.
A statement issued by Chinese Embassy extended felicitation to Pakistan for non-permanent membership of UNSC. “Looking forward to enhancing coordination with Pakistan at the UNSC to work for peace and speak up for justice,” the statement reads.
UN General Assembly elected these five countries, and Pakistan got 182 votes, meeting the criterion of obtaining two-thirds of the votes.
The Asian nation will serve from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026. This marks Pakistan’s eighth term as a non-permanent member of the UNSC.
