WASHINGTON – China has strongly criticized the United States’ recent sanctions targeting countries that maintain trade relations with Iran.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington said that China consistently opposed the arbitrary imposition of tariffs and trade restrictions.
“There are no winners in trade wars, and issues cannot be resolved through pressure or coercion,” the spokesperson added.
“China will take all necessary measures to safeguard its legitimate interests.”
The embassy also emphasized that China firmly opposes any illegal or unilateral sanctions and the misuse of jurisdictional authority.
Meanwhile, the US military activity increased at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base.
The International media reported that KC-135 air refueling tankers and B-52 strategic bombers, along with other American aircraft, conducted operations from the base on Sunday night.
The Al Udeid base is located approximately 200–300 kilometers from the Iranian border.
White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt reiterated that President Trump continues to prioritize diplomacy but warned that the US would not hesitate to use military force against Iran if deemed necessary.
