BEIJING – China has strongly condemned the suicide bombing near a court in Islamabad that killed at least 12 people and injured several others on Thursday, reaffirming its firm support for Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism and safeguard national stability.
Responding to a question during a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and extended condolences to the victims’ families and the injured.
“China strongly condemns the attack. We deeply mourn for the lives lost and extend sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and the injured,” Guo said.
He confirmed that no Chinese nationals were among the casualties in the incident.
The spokesperson reiterated Beijing’s commitment to Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts, stating, “China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism and will continue to support Pakistan in fighting terrorism, maintaining social stability, and protecting its people.”
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing, which took place near a local court in Islamabad, raising fresh concerns over security challenges in the federal capital.
