China asks Pakistani political parties to work together to form new govt

BEIJING – China has congratulated Pakistan for the holding 12th general election in a generally steady and smooth manner.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning felicitated Iron Brother for holding general elections of the national and provincial assemblies in smooth manner.

Beijing hoped that the political parties in the South Asian nation could work together to form a new government after the elections.

In a press briefing, the spokeswoman said China noted that Pakistan general elections were held in a generally steady and smooth manner, and we offer our congratulations.

It said China – being a neighbor –respects the choices of Pakistanis and hopes that relevant parties of Pakistan will work together to uphold political solidarity and social stability.

Spokesperson Ning said Islamabad and Beijing were all-weather strategic cooperative partners and hoped to work with Islamabad to build on traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation in various areas and accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
