Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, met with the Provincial Minister for Women Development, Shaheena Shah Ali, at her office in Karachi. The meeting focused on enhancing women’s empowerment through skill training and the establishment of businesses with the support of the Sindh government.
During the discussion, both leaders deliberated on initiatives to empower deserving women under BISP, emphasizing skill development and entrepreneurship. It was agreed that in the upcoming meeting, officials from BISP, the Sindh government, and the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) would collaborate to develop working papers on the operational framework for skill training, business opportunities, and implementation procedures for BISP beneficiaries.
Senator Rubina Khalid shared that this year would be dedicated to the “Benazir Hunarmand Program,” aimed at providing skill training to deserving women and their families, empowering them to earn a livelihood and become financially independent.
She highlighted the importance of the Sindh government’s support in this endeavor. Minister Shaheena Shah Ali lauded the efforts of BISP in promoting economic independence for women and assured her full cooperation from the provincial ministry for the success of these initiatives.
