Two sides exchange views on challenges being faced by media
Faisal Zahid Malik, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, Pakistan Observer, called on Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at his chamber in Parliament House, Islamabad.
During the meeting, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani congratulated Faisal Zahid Malik on the announcement of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his outstanding services to journalism and the media sector. He appreciated his longstanding contributions to journalism and his efforts for the promotion of responsible and professional journalism in Pakistan.
The two sides also exchanged views on the prevailing situation of journalism and the media industry in Pakistan, the challenges facing the media, and the importance of a free, responsible and professional press in strengthening democratic values and parliamentary institutions.
They also discussed the role of the media in promoting Pakistan’s positive image, highlighting national achievements and strengthening public awareness on matters of national importance. The need for closer
cooperation between media institutions and parliamentary forums to promote informed public discourse was also emphasized.
Senator Al-Haj Muhammad Umer Gorgaij, Member of the National Assembly Musa Gilani, and Saud Faisal Malik, Deputy Chief Editor & Chief of Digital, Pakistan Observer, were also present on the occasion. The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere.
