The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) remains committed to providing equitable water and sewerage services to all citizens, irrespective of their political, religious, or ethnic affiliations. CEO of KW&SC, Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, assured this commitment during a recent meeting with a delegation led by NaibAmeerJamaat-e-Islami Karachi and opposition leader KMC, Saifuddin Advocate, at the MD Secretariat. COO KW&SC Engineer Asadullah Khan and various town chairmen were also present.

The CEO outlined the KW&SC’s ongoing efforts to ensure an uninterrupted water supply and effective sewerage management across the city. He highlighted recent developments, including the installation of a new line at Dhabeji Pumping Station and Old Pipri Main, and the completion of 496 sewage development projects last year.

During the meeting, NaibAmeerJamaat-e-Islami, Saifuddin Advocate, raised several concerns regarding water supply and sewerage issues in the city. He emphasized the need for immediate action on these problems, including capping open manholes, fixing water line leakages, and increasing collaboration with UC and Town Chairmen to resolve issues at the grassroots level. Engineer Ahmed responded positively, promising that all complaints would be addressed promptly. He proposed the formation of sub-committees at the town level to oversee annual development works and ensure the efficient resolution of water and sewerage problems.

He also mentioned that, with support from the World Bank, a new line is being installed at Dhabeji Pumping Station and Old Pipri Main. He assured that KWSC is dedicated to improving city services and addressing the water demand disparity in Karachi, which currently sees about 50% less water than required.

The CEO reiterated KW&SC’s dedication to enhancing water supply and sewerage infrastructure, underscoring that providing better facilities to citizens remains a top priority.
