CEO of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC), Engineer Syed Sallahuddin Ahmed, disbursed a record Rs1.6455 billion to employees from July 2023 to February 2024, marking the highest payments in KW&SC’s history. The unprecedented payments reflect CEO Ahmed’s commitment to addressing employees’ welfare, as stated in his inaugural message upon assuming office. KWSC highlighted that the payments authorized by the CEO within his first year in office are unprecedented in the history of the corporation.

On his first day in office, the CEO of KWSC emphasized that addressing the legitimate concerns of both current and retired employees of the Water Corporation ranks among his top priorities. Effective measures will be undertaken for the welfare of employees at various intervals, he pledged. Since assuming office, the KWSC has transformed into an entity that ensures the prompt disbursement of salaries to its serving employees and pensions to its retired staff on the first day of each month, the statement added. Furthermore, concrete steps are being taken to ensure timely payment of leave encashment.

This year, leave encashment will be disbursed in full to all officers and employees during the second Ashra of Ramadan. Speaking on the matter, DMD Finance KWSC, Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah, highlighted the CEO’s proactive role in addressing employee issues.

He noted that under CEO Ahmed’s leadership, gross salaries for serving employees have been guaranteed for the first time in KWSC’s history. Efforts have also been made to safeguard the timely disbursement of deducted funds from employees’ salaries, ensuring they are available when needed, Shah added. From July 2023 to February 2024, payments totaling Rs1.645 billion have been made to employees.

These disbursements include Rs481 million for GP Fund, Rs77 million for Supplementary Bills, Rs37 million for Gratuity Pension, Rs112 million for LPR, Rs215 million for House Building Loan and Financial Assistance to heirs of deceased employees, Rs4.15 million for medical permission cases, Rs322 million for medical hospital/institutes, and full payments of Rs6 million for group insurance, totaling Rs1.645 billion. Efforts are underway to expedite the payment of dues for retired employees as per the CEO’s directives, ensuring timely disbursement of employee entitlements.
