CEC takes notice of MPA attacks on ECP office in Mohmand

Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Raja on Friday took notice of vandalism at the Election Commission of Pakistan’s office in Mohmand election.

The CEC directed the Secretary Election Commission to take action against the people involved in it. The elements involved in the incident must be given punishment as per the law, he added.

Following the orders, the ECP secretary contacted the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP directing him to take action against the people who attacked the election commission’s office in Mohmand. The KP IG assured the ECP secretary of action against the people behind the attack.

Moreover, Mohmand District Election Commissioner wrote a letter to Mohmand DPO against KP MPA Nisar Ahmed Mohmand who had attacked the election commission’s office twice in a day, provoked his workers to target the office and gave serious threats to the commission staffers.

The District Election Commissioner asked the DPO to lodge an FIR against the MPA. The ECP on Wednesday had issued notices to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Transport Shah Mohammad Khan and his brother and son over polling station violence in Bannu.—INP
