The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to hire the services of a consultant for the establishment of a Safari Park in Islamabad. The decision to this effect was taken during the 10th meeting of the CDA Board chaired by the Chairman of the CDA Board Muhammad Ali Randhawa held on Tuesday at the CDA Headquarters. All members of the CDA Board attended the meeting.
In the meeting, it was decided to hire a consultant under PPRA Rule (42F) for the establishment of a Safari Park in Islamabad.
The CDA Board also decided to increase the fees for the change of trade for industrial plots. Additionally, the approval was given to increase the fees for the subdivision and amalgamation of industrial plots. It is pertinent to mention here that these fees have not been increased since 2005. Furthermore, instructions were given to compile a list of industrial plots that are being used contrary to the allocated trade without CDA’s approval.
In the 10th meeting of the CDA Board, the establishment of a Project Management Unit in the authority was decided. The Project Management Unit will oversee the work on various initiatives undertaken by CDA.
Earlier, Ambassador of Zimbabwe, Mr Titus M J Abu Basutu, visited the CDA Headquarters the same day and held a meeting with Chairman of the CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Zimbabwe is among the new missions recently opened in Islamabad.
Zimbabwein Ambassador appreciated the efforts of CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa for beautification and uplift of Islamabad. He particularly expressed his interest in the solid waste management initiative in the city. CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that companies of good repute would be invited for solid waste management in Islamabad.
The Zimbabwean envoy was also briefed on the Safari Park project in Islamabad. The Chairman of the CDA told him that the establishment of the Safari Park would boost tourism in Islamabad. He mentioned that the Safari Park would have a capacity for more than 5,000 animals and in the first phase more than 2,000 animals to be brought in the first phase.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized that the embassy of Zimbabwe should play its role in procuring animals for the Safari Park from Zimbabwe especially Big 5.
The Ambassador of Zimbabwe proposed relocating the embassy from an outside area to the Diplomatic Enclave. The CDA chief assured that the issue of relocating the embassy of Zimbabwe to the Diplomatic Enclave would be resolved soon through the Foreign Office.
