ISLAMABAD – At least 15 people were martyred and multiple were injured in a suicide blast at a mosque during Friday prayers in Tarlai area of Islamabad.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon confirmed that more than 80 people have been injured in the explosion that occurred in Islamabad, and 15 individuals have been brought dead to various hospitals.
“Emergency has been declared at PIMS, Polyclinic, and CDA hospitals. Assistant Commissioners have been appointed to oversee the treatment of the injured at the hospitals. The blast site has been completely sealed off for investigation and safety,” he said in a statement on X.

Reports said the blast occurred at Imambargah Khadija-tul- Kubra located in Tarlai area of the capital city.
Law enforcement and rescue teams have swiftly arrived at the scene and have initiated rescue efforts.
The orthopaedic, burn centre, neurology, and main emergency departments have been activated at the hospitals to handle the influx of injured patients.
Police said the suicide bomber exploded himself at the gate of the mosque when he was stopped over suspicious activity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the incident and expressed sorrow over deaths in the attack.
The premier said all those involved in the heinous attack will be taken to justice.
This blast comes less than three months after a suicide bombing outside a district and sessions court in the G-11 sector of Islamabad on November 11, 2025, which resulted in 12 deaths.
