Carpet Training Institute Chairperson Pervez Hanif on Sunday demanded the government to take notice of the complexities of the State Bank of Pakistan in wake of exports of the handmade carpets otherwise the importers of the carpets would prefer to buy carpets from our rival countries.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of carpet exporters who called on him at his office here on Sunday. He said the State Bank of Pakistan was creating hurdles in export orders even after this fact that foreign buyers sent advance money through legal channels fulfilling all legal requirements.
Pervez Hanif said it is impossible that the government would expect the raise of the volume of exports by issuing notices to carpet exporters because such kind of notices would enhance the atmosphere of fear, which would be lethal for exports of the country.
Pervez Hanif said the State Bank of Pakistan had a right to put hurdles in way of illegal channels but it should avoid creating problems for exporters who follow all legal procedures. He also demanded the government to take notice of credit of 150 days. He said export of the carpet is totally different from other products as a suitable time is required for manufacturing of handmade carpets and the State Bank of Pakistan has also an issue with carpet exporters in this regard.
