A wise man always thinks before speaking. Selection of proper words may enhance the message intended to convey. Likewise, inappropriate words may spoil the whole message. As a matter of principle those, who lead or influence a particular group of people in society, should be more cautious in expressing their views on sensitive issues. It will not be an overstatement that majority of existing leadership of political parties as well as bunch of their spokespersons usually avoid paying requisite attention on selection of appropriate words. Their tones turn harsher while expressing dissent or criticizing the political opponents.
Consequently, political canvas now presents more polarization than consensus on very important issues of national interest. How this unwise tendency of mindless verbosity is damaging the political environment can be gauged from prevailing deterioration in democratic norms, logical dissent, respectable exchange of arguments and issue-based debates. Over a period of time, fiery speeches and indecent remarks have become main source of spreading the hatred among various segment of society. Unfortunately, infection of verbosity has deeply affected the top tiers of political parties as well. Recent, past two examples are very relevant to comprehend the depth of infection.
First one is a fiery speech by a man with turban who happens to be the chief of a religio-political party and an experienced parliamentarian. Ironically, he is often called a veterans politician or a ‘Buzurg Syastdan’. However, his careless views about the martyred soldiers have stirred a big controversy. Kins of the respectable martyrs are in a state of anguish. Majority of the nation is very disappointed and shocked. Second piece of careless talk reached to the audience through a podcast released on digital platform. Views expressed in podcast by concerned sister of former PM presented almost unbelievable version of 2025 Pak-India War known as ‘Marka-e-Haq.
Though, sister of former PM carries the repute of a non-political house wife, however, current controversial remarks were passed in a specific political context. War of words has broken out between the ruling and opposition groups over these controversial remarks. Ministers and spokespersons from government side are showing extraordinary vigor to counter the both above referred statements but this all seems very stereo typed and quite spiritless. Besides showing mirror to the ‘careless speakers’; saner quarters should brainstorm to comprehend the real intent behind the criticism lodged by the ‘veteran politician’ and apparently non-political ‘concerned sister’.
No rocket science is involved in detecting the foul play of both angry birds. Both have tried to politicize something! Pakistan’s nerve breaking war against various brands of India-sponsored terrorist groups based in Afghanistan is not a hidden secret. And who does not know the reality of ‘Operation Sindoor’ launched in the context of Pahalgam false flag episode. Those martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the defense of homeland were viciously targeted by a political figure and a self-style representative of imprisoned former PM. Why these both figures are trying to undermine and downplay the professional role of national institutions?
