Campaign to expose India

PAKISTAN has launched a diplomatic offensive to expose India’s falsehood and belligerence in the backdrop of the recent tension between the two nuclear armed neighbours presenting potent threats to regional peace and security.

A high level team, consisting of three former foreign ministers, two former foreign secretaries, two former ambassadors to the US and a serving federal minister, is in New York to present Pakistan’s point of view before members of the UN Security Council.

In a briefing to representatives from China, Russia, Denmark, Greece, Panama, Somalia, Algeria, Guyana, Japan, South Korea, Sierra Leone and Slovenia, the delegation sensitized them about India’s targeting of urban areas and suspension of Indus Water Treaty, urging that the international community should not be limited to post-conflict resolution efforts but should find pre-conflict solutions for lasting peace in South Asia.

As India completely relies on false propaganda to create justification for aggression and anti-Pakistan moves, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has done well by dispatching two powerful delegations to various capitals of the globe as part of the strategy to counter Indian claims and moves that have serious implications for regional peace and security.

These delegations, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, began their tour of New York, Washington, London, Brussels and Moscow to engage in a series of meetings with the leadership of international bodies, public office holders, senior officials, parliamentarians, think tanks, media and Pakistani Diaspora.

Hopefully, these briefings marked by facts and figures will put things in their proper perspective and help blunt the malicious propaganda unleashed by India in a bid to distort ground realities.

In fact, the international community is already looking favourably to the principled-based position adopted by Pakistan before, during and after the recent smart war between the two countries.

The Pahalgam incident, used by India to mount an attack on Pakistan, is widely believed to be a false flag operation by New Delhi and that is why India did not respond to the repeated offers made by Pakistani leadership to extend cooperation in a neutral international investigation, a sincere proposal supported by most of the members of the global community.

India also displayed arrogance by trying to settle the issue through use of force as against Pakistan’s offer for talks and peaceful resolution of the conflict.

During the period of military engagement, India indiscriminately targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure including hydropower projects and mosques whereas in its response Pakistan chose only military targets, a fact verified by numerous reports of international media.

India is still pursuing suicidal path by suspending the Indus Water Treaty and drawing plans for blocking Pakistan’s share of water under the World Bank-brokered accord.

If India persists with its policy of using water as a weapon against Pakistan, then the possibility of another war cannot be ruled out as Islamabad has declared in categorical terms it will not compromise on its water rights.

Therefore, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has aptly emphasized the need for finding pre-conflict solutions and the world community should take violation of the international treaty seriously.

The irresponsible attitude demonstrated by India during the conflict also lends credibility to the argument that India does not deserve a permanent berth at the UN Security Council as it is violator of international law, sponsor of terrorism, believes in the use of force to settle disputes, opposes peace moves and has become a dominant factor of instability in the region.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as pointed out by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has established his credentials as a trouble-maker.

This is also confirmed by the decision of Canada not to extend an invitation to him for India’s involvement in extra-territorial killing of Sikh leaders.

This is yet another sign of growing diplomatic isolation of New Delhi under Modi and strengthens Pakistan’s case against India.
