Special Assistant to CM on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the Punjab government fully believes in freedom of press as free press is reflective of free nation and society.
She said this while talking to a delegation of Press club Sheikhupura, which called on her under PFUJ general secretary Rana Azim here Wednesday.
She urged the press not to be thrifty in presenting government performance before the people in the prevailing political scenario.
She underlined Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has played his untiring role in steering the country from mire of problems and whirlpool of crisis. Media should present it before the people openly. We believe in hearing and facing positive and constructive criticism.
She remarked government is taking steps to resolve the problems facing the journalists. Government will extend every possible cooperation in addressing the problems of regional press clubs.
PTI led government has no pressure on media therefore, the latter is giving more coverage to opposition than government, she observed.
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar is not showbiz CM but he is “shabash” CM OF Prime Minister, she remarked.
Meanwhile, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Pakistan and Punjab are known world over as tourist destination. Tourism has an important role in boosting Pakistan’s economy. Tourism is the top priority of PTI government. The Punjab government has formulated the first-ever tourism policy in history of the province.
She said that the Punjab government has opened doors of all rest houses across the province for general public which were previously not accessible to them.
She said that the Punjab government has announced to celebrate “Rehmatul Lil Alameen” week from 13th November to honor and respect the Holy Prophet (PBUH) who is a role model for all of us.
Adviser to Chief Minister for Horticulture & Tourism Asif Mehmood, Director General Public Relations Muhammad Aslam Dogar, and Director Electronic Media Rubina Afzal were also present.
Later, the special assistant visited Services Hospital to inquire about the health of Ch Shujaat Hussain. On this occasion, Ch. Shafay Hussain informed the special assistant that the health condition of his father has improved and was recovering. She expressed happiness over the health recovery of Ch. Shujaat Hussain and prayed for his long life.
