Burgeoning population is a great threat: Minister

Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Hashim Dogar has stressed upon the need to address the issue of population increase seriously. He said that burgeoning population is a great threat to national development.
He was gracing a seminar as the chief guest, organised by Planning and Development Board, in connection with World Population Day. Population Secretary Ali Bahadur Qazi and other senior officers from Population Department and Planning and Development Board were also present there.
While addressing the participants, the minister expressed his concern that with this ratio of population increase no country can make progress. Hashim Dogar said that proper spacing among the birth of children is important. For natural gap, mothers should feed their children for almost two years, which is also a basic right of a newborn.
Healthy nation, a healthy mother is a must, he added. At the end, the minister was presented an honorary shield.
