Deputy Commissioner, Hafizabad, Rana Saleem Ahmad Khan has said that breastfeeding is a natural and the best diet for newborn children while Islam emphasizes on mothers to breastfeeding for two years.
While addressing inaugural ceremony of Breastfeeding Week being observed in the district for creating awareness among women about importance of breastfeeding, today, he said that breastfeeding was not only useful for better growth of children but also save the women from breast cancer.
He said that observing of Breastfeeding Week by the Health Department was a laudable step which would be helpful for persuading women to breastfeeding.
He said that dry and market milk was caused deficiency of immunity in newborn children, as a result of which, newborn children were suffering from different diseases easily as well as women were also faced fatal disease of breast cancer.
Women should implement on teaching of Islam for better growth of their children and keeping herself healthy, he added. Chief Executive Officer Health Hafizabad, Dr. Rehmatullah Saqib gave detail briefing to Deputy Commissioner regarding arrangements of observing the Breastfeeding Week.
He told that special teams were constituted consisting of lady health supervisors, lady health workers and school health nutrition supervisors for creating awareness among women in the district about breastfeeding.
A walk was also taken out for creating awareness among women about importance of breastfeeding led by the Deputy Commissioner while lady health workers, civil society and other people participated the walk.
