Bitcoin slips to $40,456 due to Russia-Ukraine tension

The cryptocurrency market nosedived on Friday as renewed fears of a possible Ukraine invasion by Russia weighed on risk assets.

As of 1300 hours GMT, the market capitalisation of cryptocurrencies shed 5.2 percent to reach $1.94 trillion.

The largest BTC price shed 6.42 percent to reach $40,456. With this decrease in price, the market capitalisation of the biggest crypto has reached $766 billion. Bitcoin shed 7.2 percent during the last seven days.

Ether, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation, shed 5.3 percent to reach $2,901. With this decrease in price, the market capitalisation of ETH has reached $341 billion.—TLTP
