ISLAMABAD – The government of Pakistan will disburse 2.5 million US Dollars in compensation to families of Chinese nationals who lost their lives in terror attack near Bisham in March this year.
Five Chinese citizens and a Pakistani driver succumbed when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into their convoy near Besham city in KP. The convoy was attacked while traveling from Islamabad to Dasu, where a Chinese company is constructing a key hydroelectric dam.

Beijing demanded a thorough investigation into the attack on the bus carrying its nationals working on the Dasu hydropower project, calling for enhanced security measures to protect its citizens in Pakistan.
Pakistan vowed to bring the perpetrators and their facilitators to justice. Three perpetrators behind the attack was also apprehended.
Pakistan Army later revealed that Bisham attack aimed to create discord between Pakistan and China, its strategic ally.
This is not the first time Pakistan compensated the families of Chinese nationals affected by terror attacks. In 2022, Islamabad paid $11.6 million to 36 Chinese citizens, both deceased and injured, following a previous attack on the Dasu hydropower project.
Pakistani Prime Minister is expected to visit China to focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation and launching the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
