PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claimed the government was “robbing” people with the recent “massive” increase in petroleum product prices.

Bilawal lashed out against the PTI administration, claiming that the incumbents had driven up fuel prices to all-time highs in the country.

“The entire nation is crying due to record inflation and Khan Sahib is fiddling,” said the PPP chairman.

When questioned about the PTI’s pledges to the people and lofty claims of relief after the budget, Bilawal Bhutto said, “Khan Sahib! When will the good days come for the nation?”

Meanwhile, Fawad Chauhdry, Pakistan’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, justified the increase, claiming that oil prices in Pakistan are still the lowest in the area.

The information minister stated in a series of tweets on Thursday that since the country imports oil, its costs will rise as global oil prices rise. For the remainder of the imports, this is the guiding concept.

According to him, the true accomplishment is that the income of 75% of our people has risen substantially.

Chaudhary Our buying power, according to Fawad Hussain, is greater than India’s.

Recognizing the challenges faced by the salaried class, he said that our agricultural industry employs 60% of the people and generates an extra income of Rs11,00 billion rupees.

He also said that the income of millions of individuals employed in the construction and manufacturing sectors had risen.

The government Wednesday raised the petrol price by Rs5 per liter and that of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs5.01 per liter for the next fortnight of September.

Similarly, the prices of kerosene and light-diesel oil (LDO) have also been increased by Rs5.92 and Rs5.42 per liter respectively.

With the increase, the petrol will now sell at Rs123.30 per liter, diesel at Rs120.04, kerosene at Rs92.26, and LDO at Rs90.69.

The new prices will be effective from Thursday (Sept 16) to the end of the month.

A day earlier, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) recommended a surge in petroleum prices.

Reports said that Ogra has sent a summary to the Petroleum Division, which will make a decision after having a consultation with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The new prices will come into effect from September 16.
