PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that public-private partnership has transformed the delivery of high-quality, free emergency medical care for children across the province.
He highlighted that the partnership with ChildLife Foundation demonstrates how large-scale access to free, high-standard pediatric emergency services can be achieved.
By expanding services to every district and tehsil, he noted, efforts are being made to ensure that no child in Sindh is deprived of urgent, life-saving treatment, with results matching those of leading hospitals worldwide.
The ChildLife Foundation recently earned international recognition by receiving the Skoll Award for Social Innovation for 2026. The honour was presented at the Skoll World Forum held in Oxford. The award acknowledges the success of its partnership with the government in delivering innovative and scalable solutions that provide round-the-clock, free emergency care for children across Pakistan.
The Skoll Foundation recognised the organisation for two key initiatives: upgrading and managing pediatric emergency units in major public hospitals, and building a telemedicine network that links smaller, remote facilities with child health specialists through high-definition video and communication systems. The initiative has also contributed to lowering child mortality rates nationwide.
Dr Ahson Rabbani emphasised the organisation’s goal of ensuring that every child in Pakistan can reach quality emergency care within 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, Marla Blow noted that this year’s award recipients demonstrate how determined and innovative leadership can address major challenges. She added that through collaboration across sectors and with communities, such initiatives are creating meaningful and lasting improvements in health, education, and public welfare.
