SHIGAR – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday called for free, fair and transparent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, saying the region’s elections should be held simultaneously with general elections across the country.
Bilawal said he had never sought a “Form-47 government” and reiterated his party’s commitment to democratic principles.
He made these remarks while addressing a public gathering in Shigar Valley ahead of the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan elections.

Referring to the electoral process, he urged supporters to safeguard their votes and actively participate in the elections. “Bring me Form-45 and I will take care of Form-47,” he told the gathering, while recalling that his party had lost several seats in the previous elections.
The PPP chairman encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers on polling day and exercise their democratic right.
Bilawal said he had never sought assistance from any institution or individual to form a government, adding that decisions regarding Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir should be made by the people of those regions themselves.
He stressed that no bureaucrat sitting in Islamabad should be allowed to decide the future of Gilgit-Baltistan, maintaining that the region’s resources belong to its people.
“The resources of Gilgit-Baltistan belong to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, not to those sitting in Islamabad,” he said.
Highlighting the PPP’s governance record, Bilawal referred to development initiatives undertaken in Sindh through public-private partnership projects. He also spoke about the development of the Thar coal project, saying the initiative had faced obstacles for decades despite its economic potential.
The PPP chairman pledged that his party would continue working for the rights and development of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and would strive to ensure that local residents benefit from the region’s resources.
