Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday, taking a jibe at former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, urged the masses to thwart “conspiracy” of those aiming to become prime minister for the fourth time by voting for his party.
Addressing a rally at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh, Bilawal accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of attempting to mislead the public, urging the people to vote wisely and foil the plot of those with ambitions to become premier again.
“A party has started the same old politics, thinking [its leader] will become the prime minister for the fourth time. But that party doesn’t realise that the source of power lies with the people,” he asserted.
Addressing the PML-N ideological workers, Bilawal said that PML-N was no longer the same party. “Instead of voting for tiger, vote for arrow as we have been governing for three generations,” Bilawal said, referring to election symbols of PML-N and PPP election symbols.
Highlighting the current challenges faced by the country, the former foreign minister stated, “Pakistan is in danger at the moment, facing economic and democratic crises. Terrorism is once again rearing its head. However, only the PPP can steer the country out of these difficulties. There won’t be any ‘good Taliban’ or ‘bad Taliban.’ Pakistan will give a resounding reply to those who do not respect our Constitution, and only the PPP can do it.”
Bilawal also took a swipe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying that the “planted” people in the party damaged it the most. “If the PTI did not get its election symbol, it’s their lawyers’ fault. They went to the Supreme Court without preparation. Now, let’s not shed crocodile tears,” he remarked.
The PPP chairman concluded his address by reiterating the party’s commitment to overcoming the challenges and steering Pakistan towards a prosperous future.
