KARACHI – Bilal Bin Saqib was appointed as boss of Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) while he was also serving as PM’s aide on blockchain and cryptocurrency, with the status of a minister of state, but the front-runner of Pakistan’s crypto body reportedly got removed.
Sources claimed that Bilal got removed as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, leaving Pakistan’s crypto sector in uncertainty, around 6 months after his appointment, as he was leading with ambitious plans to become a regional hub for cryptocurrency and digital finance.
With recent development, Bilal bin Saqib has been removed from his role as PM’s aide, as the Cabinet Division website removed his name and profile. His name has vanished from the official list of state ministers, signalling a sudden and unexpected exit.
Bilal was appointed SAPM on May 26, 2025, and he held position for mere six months before this abrupt change. The government has not issued any official statement, leaving nation speculating about the reasons behind his removal.
Cabinet Division portal now shows no mention of Bilal among state ministers or advisers. Although his ministerial and advisory status has been removed online, National Assembly records have yet to reflect these changes, adding to the uncertainty.
It is being reported that Mr Saqib resigned and left for UAE, fueling further speculation. So far, it remains unclear whether he will continue in these roles following his departure as SAPM, leaving Pakistan’s crypto and political circles abuzz.
The federal government is yet to respond to the development to clear air on the matter.
Who is Bilal Bin Saqib?
Bilal Bin Saqib is known entrepreneur and blockchain advocate, who was said to be Crypto czar. He holds a master’s degree in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the London School of Economics.
Bilal co-founded One Million Meals, a COVID-19 initiative supporting NHS workers in the UK, earning him the MBE. He also founded Tayaba Organisation in Pakistan, providing H2O Wheels to assist women in rural areas.
He has been recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia for his social entrepreneurship.
