ISLAMABAD — Islamabad High Court on Wednesday granted bail to former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the second Toshakhana corruption case.

Justice Mian Gul Aurangzeb Hasan announced the decision, directing authorities to free Imran Khan. The former premier is likely to remain behind bars as PTI founder is facing dozens of cases, including those with terrorism and other serious charges.

PTI founder was directed to submit two surety bonds of Rs1 million each. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) accused Imran and his wife, Bushra Bibi, of receiving a jewelry set.

Khan’s legal team praised the verdict, lamenting that the case was politically motivated.

ToshaKhana Case II

It started with Bulgari jewelry set gifted to Bushra Bibi during her Saudi Arabia visit in May 2021, including a ring, bracelet, necklace, and earrings. An investigation revealed that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi illegally retained the jewelry, failing to deposit it despite a directive from Toshakhana to assess its value.

The jewelry set was valued at Rs750million with significant undervaluation leading to a loss of Rs32,851,300 to the national treasury. The couple is accused of violating the NAB Ordinance 1999, specifically sections related to illegal retention and undervaluation.
