LAHORE – The chicken prices declined i the local markets of Lahore and other cities, the Pakistan Poultry Association said on Tuesday.

Chicken meat currently is being sold at Rs470 per kg, marking a reduction of Rs78 per kg.

Over the past three weeks, there was a major decrease of Rs227 per kg in chicken prices, as reported by the association.

Besides it, the price of chicks also decreased, now standing at Rs100 compared to the earlier Rs220.

Responding to the situation, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has pledged to take action against those exploiting consumers through inflated chicken prices.

The chief minister initiated rigorous measures targeting poultry farmers and traders. Stock data has been obtained from these stakeholders to investigate the sudden price hike.

Earlier, the prices now dropped due to a decrease in demand, and led the poultry owners to lower their prices.
