Besakhi Mela celebrations are in full swing at Gurdwara Punja Sahib Hasanabdal where a large number of Sikh Yatrees including two thousand Indian Sikh are participating. On the occasion Evacuee Trust Property Board has made elaborate arrangements for them while Attock police are providing them fool proof security.
The mela will conclude with the ceremony of “Khalsa Sajna”. The pilgrims during the mela recite Guru Grunt and perform other rituals including Ashnan (holy bath). The Indians pilgrims led by Sardar Arvinder Singh have expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements made for them. Sardar Arvinder Singh and other Sikhs told this journalist that when ever they come to Pakistan they feel happy and relaxed as Pakistan is the land of their four gurus.
They said, we are thankful to Pakistani authorities for giving us religious freedom and keeping our Gurdwaras in good condition. They said, the people of Pakistan are loving, caring and hospitable. Commissioner Rawalpindi Noor ul Amin Mangal, DC Attock Muhammad Naeem Sindhu along with DPO Attock Rana Shoaib Mahmood visited Gurdwara Punja Sahib. They welcomed the yatrees and asked about the arrangements made for them. The leaders of the Sikh yatrees expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements.
