In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Advocate Davinder Singh Behl has urged the international community to resolve the Kashmir dispute in the light of the United Nations resolutions.

Davinder Singh Behl in a statement issued in Jammu said the peace of South Asia is in danger due to the unresolved lingering dispute.

He said the Kashmir dispute is the main cause of strained relations between India and Pakistan and unless this issue is resolved, durable peace cannot be established in the south Asian region.

He said that since 1947, Pakistan has been struggling for a peaceful and amicable solution to the Kashmir dispute but India’s stubbornness is the biggest obstacle in its settlement.

Davinder Singh Behl added that Pakistan on every forum was advocating settlement of the dispute according to the UN resolutions and will of the Kashmiri people while India was deviating from the promise it made to the Kashmiri people before the international community.

He urged the international community to play its effective and important role in settlement of the Kashmir dispute so that permanent peace could be established in the region.—KMS
