Bangladesh Cricket Board is likely to send a team of 25 players and 17 support staff members, if the compromise between the two boards on quarantine issue is reached, it is learnt here.
According to the highly placed sources in the BCB, the plan is to send a chartered Sri Lankan airlines flight with 42 passengers from Dhaka to Colombo.
The 17-support staff will include two selectors- Minhajul Abedin and Habibul Bashar, one of the directors Jalal Younis as team manager, a doctor, media manager and other coaching staff.
In a letter received to the SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket) board, the BCB has also sought clarification on Shakib ul Hasan or any other player/s, or BCB officials are to be sent later by a commercial flight.
In case, Shakib, if at all has to be sent (by a commercial flight) for the last two Tests, when his ICC ban would end by then he may need to go for a longer quarantine.
“It is not feasible to send only one player later on a chartered flight and if Shakib does not want to undergo a long quarantine, he may not be willing to go”, one of the sources, said exclusively.
This quarantine dispute is likely to be resolved at the soonest. BCB is yet to announce the team but likely to retain Mominul Haque as its Test captain.
