ISLAMABAD –  With two separate elected heads in one federation, both claiming  the legitimacy, the tensions have arisen within the national sport of hockey.

The upcoming days will reveal the direction of the disputes.

Two days ago, Shehla Raza was elected as the first female president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation during the congress assembly in Karachi.

Earlier today, Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti, who was nominated by former Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar, was elected as president in the congress assembly of the Hockey Federation.

Tariq Bajwa claimed his presidency over the Pakistan Hockey Federation, and said that those who established parallel hockey federations would be held accountable.

On the other hand, Shehla Raza maintained her stance as the elected president, dismissed the stance of those what she said “the opponents”. She said they did not have any credibility, adding that the matter would be presented before the prime minister.
