Basant 2027 Update For Lahore As Punjab Cabinet Approves March 12 14 Dates

LAHORE – Lahore’s Basant celebrations are taking a new turn as Punjab Cabinet approves fresh dates for 2027, shifting much-anticipated festival to March 12–14 instead of the previously announced January–February schedule.

The much-anticipated Basant celebrations have been rescheduled, with Punjab Cabinet approving March 12, 13 and 14, 2027, as the new dates for the festival, replacing the previously announced 10-day schedule.

The provincial cabinet approved summary seeking changes to the Basant calendar, shifting the celebrations from the original January–February window to three days in March.

The decision follows a proposal initiated by Lahore Deputy Commissioner, who forwarded a summary to the Punjab Home Department seeking a revision of the festival dates. The department subsequently submitted the proposal to the Punjab Cabinet, which approved the revised schedule.

Under previous plan, Punjab government announced a 10-day Basant celebration period from January 29 to February 7, 2027. However, the approved revision means the festivities in Lahore will now take place exclusively from March 12 to 14, 2027.

The change is revision to the original festival calendar, with Lahore now set to welcome Basant celebrations in mid-March instead of late January and early February.
