Karachi Banquet Hall Association President Shariq Memon has strongly condemned the government’s closure of marriage halls from November 20 this year and demanded that the government reconsider its decision. He expressed these views while addressing a crowded emergency conference at a local banquet here. Vice President Karachi Banquet Hall Association Rashid Khan, General Secretary Nasir Hussain and other leaders were also present on the occasion. Memon further said that he strongly condemned the closure of Shadi Halls from November 20. Industry insiders have only been able to make bookings after a seven-month long lockdown and once again our business is being shut down, we appeal to the government to reconsider its decision and reverse it immediately. Responding to a question, he said that masks and sanitizers are arranged at the main entrances of wedding halls, all SOPs are also enforced, yet the government has closed the wedding halls. There is no justification for closure. He further said that the process of sealing various marriage halls by the management is very unfortunate, in this regard the owners are unnecessarily harassed by the management and SOPs are being followed. Despite the fact that we are being harassed, the administration needs to look into the facts instead of listening to the rumors. He said that thousands of people associated with the marriage hall in Karachi have been suffering in the last few days. If the government does not reverse its decision, it will be time to go on a hunger strike.
