Bank holidays 2026 in Pakistan – Dates and Days

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced an official calendar of public holidays in Pakistan for year 2026, along with the list of specific bank holidays.

The private and public banks across Pakistan observed these specific holidays on three days around the year, along with public holidays.

Bank Holidays in Pakistan 2026

As per the official calendar, the first bank holiday was observed on January 1, 2026 (Thursday). The upcoming bank holiday is expected to be observed on February 18 (Wednesday) corresponding to 1st Ramazan 1447 A.H for deduction of Zakat (subject to appearance of moon).

The third bank holiday of year 2026 will be observed on July 1 (Wednesday) that marks the first day of the new fiscal year in Pakistan.

The day is reserved for the finalisation of financial accounts, audits, and other procedures related to the close of the previous fiscal year (which runs from July 1 to June 30).

Pakistan Public Holidays Calendar 2026

The federal government has officially announced the public and optional holidays for 2026, with a comprehensive schedule issued by the Cabinet Secretariat. This schedule includes national, religious, and minority observances.

As per the notification from the Cabinet Division, the first public holiday of the year will be Kashmir Day, observed on Thursday, February 5. Following that, Pakistan Day will be observed on Monday, March 23.

The Eid ul-Fitr holidays have been set for March 21, 22, and 23, depending on the moon sighting. Labour Day will be celebrated on May 1, and a public holiday for Youm-e-Takbeer will be observed on May 28.

Eid ul-Adha holidays will span from May 27 to May 29. Additionally, public holidays for the 9th and 10th of Muharram will be observed on June 24 and 25.

Pakistan’s Independence Day will be a public holiday on Friday, August 14. The birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be commemorated with a public holiday on Tuesday, August 25.

Another holiday has been declared on Monday, November 9, in honor of Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s birth anniversary. December 25 will be a public holiday for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s birthday as well as Christmas Day.

An additional holiday on December 26 will be granted specifically for the Christian community to celebrate Christmas.
