ISLAMABAD – The federal cabinet on Tuesday constituted a committee to prepare detailed recommendations on the proposed introduction of new currency notes in denominations of Rs100, Rs500, Rs1,000, and Rs5,000.
The sources said the committee has been specifically tasked with examining whether the materials intended for use in the new banknotes are safe for public handling and pose no risk to human health.
The review will focus on the quality, durability, and potential health implications of the proposed composition of the currency.
According to the officials, the cabinet directed that all technical and safety aspects related to the production of the new notes be thoroughly assessed to ensure they meet international standards and do not adversely affect users.
The committee is also expected to consult relevant experts and institutions during its evaluation process before submitting its findings to the federal cabinet.
A final decision regarding the launch and circulation of the new currency notes will be made after the cabinet reviews the committee’s recommendations.
