Lesco Imposes Ban On Solar Green Electricity Meters

LAHORE – The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has officially imposed a ban on the installation of solar green electricity meters.

Following the development, thousands of LESCO customers will no longer be able to avail themselves of this solar energy solution.

Although the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had previously issued guidelines for the installation of solar green meters, the Ministry of Energy’s latest directive has resulted in an immediate halt to the practice.

Officials further clarified that the company is obliged to follow the ministry’s orders, and the ban on installing solar green meters could remain in effect for a period of one to two months.

As per the new regulation, both residential and industrial customers will no longer be able to get solar green meters installed.

When the ban to be lifted

The meters will only be reintroduced once a new solar green meter policy is announced. It was also revealed that other Distribution Companies (DISCOs) across the country have suspended solar connections as well.
