DHAKA – Bangladesh’s Sports Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul has summoned members of the national cricket team for an important meeting amid the controversy surrounding the team’s travel to India for the ICC T20 World Cup.
He media reports suggested that the meeting is scheduled to take place this afternoon, during which Dr Nazrul will brief the players on the current situation and the government’s position regarding Bangladesh’s participation in the tournament.
The reports said the sports adviser will also seek the players’ views on the World Cup and discuss possible measures to resolve the ongoing issue.
The development comes after the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected Bangladesh’s reservations and confirmed that the team’s T20 World Cup matches will be held in India as scheduled.
Sources further revealed that some players are in favour of resolving the matter through mutual understanding and dialogue.
