QUETTA – The Negotiations between the Balochistan government, the families of police personnel martyred in the Ziarat terrorist attack, and the protest committee have concluded successfully, resulting in a written agreement and the end of sit-ins in Quetta and Ziarat.
A member of the protest committee, Nasrullah Zehri said both sides reached a consensus on the draft agreement, which was formally signed by representatives of the government, the victims’ families, and the committee.
Under the agreement, a judicial commission will be established to investigate the Ziarat terrorist attack.
The accord also provides for a joint law and order meeting to be chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, with participation from opposition parties and the families of the martyrs.
According to the agreement, the slain police personnel will be officially recognised as martyrs under the government’s policy. Their families will receive financial compensation, long-term support, and educational assistance for their children.
The agreement further states that government buildings will be named in honour of the martyrs. A separate committee, headed by the provincial revenue minister, will also be formed to address public concerns related to revenue matters.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said it is the government’s responsibility to care for the families of the martyrs, adding that the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and police personnel are unforgettable.
Following the signing of the agreement, the sit-ins staged by the families of the police personnel martyred in the Ziarat attack were called off in both Quetta and Ziarat.
The funeral prayers for the fallen police personnel are scheduled to be offered at 4:00 pm today at Ayub Stadium in Quetta.
