LAHORE — Flamboyant player Babar Azam has resigned as Pakistan captain to focus on Individual performance.

The star player, who has been struggling with his performance in recent times, said he wants to focus on his role as a player besides spending time with his family.

He said that I feel proud of what I have achieved so far, I am ready to fulfill my responsibility as a player.

Babar has led Pakistan Cricket team to some major T20I victories, however the team’s performance remained under fire.

Babar Azam made headlines after becoming all-time leading run-scorer in T20Is during crucial match against the US in 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup group stage. This achievement further solidifies his status as one of the best T20 players in history.

Babar Azam previously stepped down as captain of the national team in all formats following the 2023 Cricket World Cup, has been reappointed as the captain for limited overs cricket as of March 2024.

The leadership of top player proven vital for Asian nation, especially as they gear up for major international competitions. With an impressive record of 122 runs off just 59 balls in his debut T20I century—still the highest score by a Pakistani in this format—Babar continues to inspire a new generation of cricketers.
