LAHORE – Pakistan team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the Australia national cricket team is expected to be announced soon, as the selection committee has started consultations over the probable squad for the highly anticipated series.
The sources said that Babar Azam is likely to return to the ODI setup, while young players Sufiyan Muqeem and Hunain Shah are also likely to be included in the squad. The possible inclusion of emerging players reflects the selectors’ focus on building a balanced combination of experienced and young cricketers for future international assignments.
The sources said that several changes are likely in the Pakistan side that recently featured in the ODI series against Bangladesh. The selectors are reportedly considering three to four changes in a bid to strengthen the squad ahead of the home series against Australia.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan white-ball training camp currently underway in Lahore will conclude tomorrow. National cricketers have been directed to report in Rawalpindi on May 22 ahead of the series preparations.
The Australian team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 for the limited-overs tour. The series is expected to attract significant attention from cricket fans, as Australia’s tours to Pakistan have generated strong interest in recent years.
The first ODI between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Rawalpindi on May 30. The remaining two matches are scheduled to take place in Lahore on June 2 and June 4, respectively.
Officials have also announced that online ticket sales for the ODI series will begin from May 22, allowing cricket fans across the country to secure seats for the much-awaited contests.
