In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have martyred an elderly under-trial prisoner after he was tortured in Kupwara jail.

75-year-old under-trial prisoner Mohammad Maqbool Khan has been in the district jail of Kupwara since August 2022 and his three sons are also under custody in a false case lodged in a police station against them.

Indian police claimed that the 75-year-old under-trial prisoner, Mohammad Maqbool Khan, fell severely ill on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday and he was taken to sub-divisional hospital Kupwara where he died.

This custodial death is yet another testimony to the authorities’ brutalities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

It is to be mentioned that this is not the first case of custodial killing and it is a routine matter in the occupied territory and opponents, especially Hurriyat activists, are being killed in fake encounters by the Indian troops.—KMS
